States With The Most Social Small Businesses [Infographic]
With small businesses representing two-thirds of the U.S. economy, there’s fierce competition for customers. Fortunately, owners of these establishments realize that social media marketing can be their best ally and provide the greatest advantage when it comes to reaching prospective consumers, connecting with current customers, and building long-term loyalty. Still, some major cities are more social media savvy than others, as shown by this infographic created by sales-intelligence provider Radius and posted by Mashable.com. Based on the social media marketing activity of more than 15 million U.S. small businesses, it illustrates how West Coast companies are generally more connected through social media. San Francisco tops the list with its 87,000 businesses on Facebook, followed by Los Angeles in the second spot for its 320,000 companies with websites. Seattle takes the number four position with 114,000 businesses reviewed on Yelp, and San Diego ranks fifth. The only East Coast city cracking the top five was Washington, D.C., whose social media marketing success helped them outrank Chicago in sixth place and New York City in seventh. Check out the rest of the nation’s social media standings.
