Reflecting the search for cultural identity, this exhibition features 20 works by many of the most important Latin American artists of the 20th century. Highlights include the traditional figurative sculpture of Francisco Zúñiga, the modernism of Rufino Tamayo and Matta, the contemporary abstraction of Enrique Castro-Cid and Carlos Cruz-Diez, and the poetic realism of Julio Larraz. Now through May 1, 2011, this exhibition introduces the work of several major Latin American artists whose work reflects the defining relationships among politics, society, art and culture.

This fascinating array of Latin American art explores how the genre has evolved to include contemporary themes while preserving its distinctive cultural character. It’s a veritable celebration of Latin American artists and their role in our collective culture.

Latin American Art from the Museum’s Collection is on display now through May 1, 2011 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art in Mizner Park. For more information, call 561.392.2500 or visit www.bocamuseum.org
