MDG selected as agency of record for the Veterans Support Organization

Boca Raton, Fla. – April 13, 2010 – The Veterans Support Organization, based in Fort Lauderdale, FL with operations in 11 states, has selected MDG to handle their communications and marketing.

The Veterans Support Organization is a 501C3 not-for-profit that helps veterans, who are homeless or near homeless, organize a “path” to independent living. The organization has created and manages several programs that specifically address the emotional and financial needs of veterans.

“I am proud to be working with the VSO,” states Michael Del Gigante, president of MDG. “It is imperative that we raise awareness of this organization because the work they do is monumentally important.”

For the 2009 fiscal year, the organization provided $1.6 million in funding for their programs.  The services include a work program designed to help veterans to re-establish their self-esteem by providing them with a sense of contributing to society and helping other veterans. They also provide financial support to VA hospitals in the local areas where the organization has chapters. In addition, the organization provides funding for Veteran’s New Life Haven in Fort Lauderdale, FL, which is a 135-bed, sober transitional housing facility for homeless veterans.

Veterans Support Organization does not hire professional fundraisers. Veterans and non-veterans who are part of this program collect funds from the public. Any non-veterans who participate in this program wear clearly marked uniforms that indicate their status.

“As a veteran myself, I developed this program to help people get back on their feet and stay focused on living an independent and productive life,” says Richard Van Houten, president and founder of Veterans Support Organization. “We know there are a lot of men and women who need support. Our hope is that we continue to get the word out about what we do, and continue to provide funding to those in need.”

 

The Veterans Support Organization currently operates in 11 states, including Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Texas. The organization plans to continue to open chapters in states that are not currently served, as well as open additional New Life Haven facilities in other key markets.
