Facebook Debuts Mobile Hashtag Support, Restaurant Reservations, and Improved iPad Timelines
Facebook’s focus on continually enhancing the user experience has led to a number of recent updates and introductions from the social network. The latest involve their mobile app and include hashtag support, real-time restaurant reservations, and faster loading of Timelines on the iPad. TheNextWeb.com explained the new features to show how Facebook keeps improving its social status.
With the introduction of hashtag support for its iOS app, Facebook’s mobile users can search for hashtags or simply tap on them when they appear in posts. Then, users will be instantly directed to the hashtag conversation. According to CFSNews.com, hashtags have long been the norm on Twitter, yet Facebook just rolled out the hashtag on its website last month and is only now extending hashtag support to its mobile app.
Another new feature lets mobile users make real-time restaurant reservations right from the Facebook mobile Pages. Through a partnership with reservation service Open Table, mobile users can instantly find available reservations and book them directly through Facebook. This means that mobile users will no longer need to use different mobile apps or websites because now they can instantly book a table through a reservations option on the Facebook mobile Pages of participating restaurants.
The final update will please iPad users because it makes Facebook Timelimes load much faster and look more streamlined on the digital devices.
iOS users can download the new version of the app from the App Store, but Android users will have to wait a little longer to experience Facebook’s latest mobile upgrades.
